Who is considered to be the operator of a collective facility?

A collective facility is a nursing home, a holiday resort, a prison, a hotel, a student residence or any other institution with several rooms fitted with beds.

Like any other business, these facilities are required to set up the selective collection of used mattresses.

Financial incentive

In order to guarantee a second life for used mattresses, Valumat supports professional users who arrange the collection of used mattresses in accordance with the established rules, either by a second-hand shop or by a Valumat collector.

I also import mattresses

If you not only sell mattresses but also import them directly in order to market them in Belgium, you are considered a producer/importer under the legislation. In this case, you must comply with the obligations associated with extended producer responsibility.
