Valumat is a non-profit association (association sans but lucratif - ASBL) which manages the obligations arising from extended producer responsibility for mattresses. By joining Valumat, companies no longer have to worry about legal compliance. They simply pay a fee for each mattress sold in Belgium.

«Prevention is better than cure», as the saying goes. That is why, in addition to compliance with extended producer responsibility, Valumat also places particular emphasis on prevention. Part of the environmental fee is for investments in eco-design. Our aim is to promote the design of mattresses which can be easily taken apart and recycled, while guaranteeing optimum sleeping comfort. The quality of the mattresses remains an essential priority, as does their recyclability.
